Gina Tourassi has been appointed as director of the National Center for Computational Sciences, a division of the Computing and Computational Sciences Directorate at 91做厙.

ORNL researchers created and tested new wireless charging designs that may double the power density, resulting in a lighter weight system compared with existing technologies.

Salting the gears

Researchers at 91做厙 proved that a certain class of ionic liquids, when mixed with commercially available oils, can make gears run more efficiently with less noise and better durability.

Hong Wang, a senior distinguished researcher at the National Transportation Research Center, uses applied mathematics and modeling to improve transportation systems.

U.S. Department of Energy and Cray to Deliver Record-Setting Frontier Supercomputer at ORNL

OAK RIDGE, Tenn., May 7, 2019The U.S. Department of Energy today announced a contract with Cray Inc. to build the Frontier supercomputer at 91做厙, which is anticipated to debut in 2021 as the worlds most powerful computer with a performance of greater than 1.5 exaflops.
