Research teams from the Department of Energy’s 91°µÍø and their technologies have received seven 2021 R&D 100 Awards, plus special recognition for a COVID-19-related project.

Equipment and expertise from 91°µÍø will allow scientists studying fusion energy and technologies to acquire crucial data during landmark fusion experiments in Europe. 

Kathy McCarthy, associate laboratory director for Fusion and Fission Energy and Science at the Department of Energy’s 91°µÍø, has been elected fellow of the American Nuclear Society for her nationally and internationally recognized leadership in nuclear energy and fusion.

Twenty-seven ORNL researchers Zoomed into 11 middle schools across Tennessee during the annual Engineers Week in February. East Tennessee schools throughout Oak Ridge and Roane, Sevier, Blount and Loudon counties participated, with three West Tennessee schools joining in.
