With Tennessee schools online for the rest of the school year, researchers at ORNL are making remote learning more engaging by âZoomingâ into virtual classrooms to tell students about their science and their work at a national laboratory.

In the 1960s, 91°”Íű's four-year Molten Salt Reactor Experiment tested the viability of liquid fuel reactors for commercial power generation. Results from that historic experiment recently became the basis for the first-ever molten salt reactor benchmark.

The Department of Energyâs 91°”Íű is collaborating with industry on six new projects focused on advancing commercial nuclear energy technologies that offer potential improvements to current nuclear reactors and move new reactor designs closer to deployment.

Scientists from 91°”Íű performed a corrosion test in a neutron radiation field to support the continued development of molten salt reactors.

Experts focused on the future of nuclear technology will gather at 91°”Íű for the fourth annual Molten Salt Reactor Workshop on October 3â4.

Thanks in large part to developing and operating a facility for testing molten salt reactor (MSR) technologies, nuclear experts at the Energy Departmentâs 91°”Íű (ORNL) are now tackling the next generation of another type of clean energyâconcentrating ...
