Inside Science has published a story about a recent experiment by ORNL researchers Brian Williams, Ron Sadlier, and Travis Humble. Using a technique known as superdense coding, Williams and co-workers managed to achieve a data rate of 1.67 bits per qubit (quantum bit), setting a new record for bits per qubit. The work will be published soon in Physical Review Letters (), which also recognized it with a PRL Editors' Suggestion. You can read the Inside Science story here:
