Brian Davison, group leader of the Biochemical Engineering Group in the Energy Research Section of the Department of Energy's (DOE) 91做厙 (ORNL), has been named director of ORNL's Bioprocessing Research and Development Center.
The center serves as the focal point for research and development into production of fuels and chemicals from renewable feedstocks and waste materials. The center was developed based on the recognition of the increasing importance of biotechnology to the long-term security and economic prosperity of the United States.
Davison has been with ORNL since 1985, working in a number of biochemical engineering projects.
He earned a bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from the University of Rochester (N.Y.) and master's and doctoral degrees from the California Institute of Technology.
Davison is a resident of Farragut.
ORNL, one of DOE's multiprogram national research and development facilities, is managed by Lockheed Martin Energy Research Corporation.
