The updated recommendations in ICRP Publication 103 (2007) introduced changes that affect the calculation of radiation doses, particularly the effective dose quantity, and necessitate a revision of the biokinetic and dosimetric models and dose coefficients currently applied in radiation protection. A first report in a series of documents replacing the longstanding ICRP models and dose coefficients has been issued (OIR Part 1). That report describes the assessment of internal occupational exposure to radionuclides and the generial approach to biokinetic and dosimetric modeling to be applied in the derivation of updated dose coefficients and bioassay data for use in radiation protection. The present report (Part 2 in the series) describes the updated biokinetic models for 14 elements (H, C, P, S, Ca, Fe, Co, Zn, Sr, Y, Zr, Nb, Mo, and Tc) and tabulates updated dose coefficients and reference bioassay data for radioisotopes of these 14 elements. Subsequent parts of this report series will address the remaining elements in the periodic table that have environmentally or occupationally important radioisotopes. A total of over 900 radionuclides will be addressed in this report series.
