Ahmed Almeldein

Postdoctoral Research Associate - Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)

Dr. Almeldein received his M.Sc. (2011) in aerospace engineering from Cairo University, Egypt. His M.Sc. published research focused on the optimization of Turbine-Based Combined Cycle propulsion system for hypersonic civil applications. In 2014, He joined the Korea Advanced Institute of Science & Technology (KAIST) as a research assistant, where he studied the evaporation and burning of Nano-Fluids as aviation fuels. Ahmed received his Ph.D. (2024) in mechanical engineering from the University of Massachusetts Lowell (UML). In his Ph.D. research, Ahmed studied the applicability of machine learning (ML) techniques, particularly Mixture-of-Experts (MoE) and physics-informed neural networks (PINNs), as a faster replacement for combustion chemical kinetics models. In 2022, Ahmed had an internship at Argonne National Laboratory, where he utilized ML like, PCA and hierarchical clustering techniques, in the acceleration, and reduction of multidimensional unsteady flamelet progress variable (UFPV) manifolds calculations.
