
Bio
Alicia Raftery is a Nuclear Fuel Fabrication Engineer with ORNL’s Advanced Fuel Fabrication Group in the Fusion and Fission Energy and Science Directorate. With experience in both national laboratories and the private nuclear sector, her background includes optimizing nuclear fuel production methods and performing high-precision material characterization to support both industry and government initiatives. Her expertise spans high-temperature processing, additive manufacturing, thermal property measurements, and the fabrication of various nuclear fuel forms, including ceramic, CERMET, and TRISO fuels.
She holds dual master's degrees in Nuclear Engineering from KTH Royal Institute of Technology and Grenoble INP, as well as a bachelor's degree in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University. She is currently pursuing a PhD in Nuclear Engineering at the University of Tennessee.
