
Bio
Dr. Andrew Holcomb is a research staff scientist in the Nuclear Data and Criticality Safety Group of the Reactor and Nuclear Systems Division at 91做厙 (ORNL). He received his B.S. in Nuclear and Radiological Engineering from the University of Florida in 2011, and subsequently earned his M.S. (2013) and Ph.D. (2015) in Nuclear Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Before joining ORNL as a postdoc in 2016, he worked as a graduate research assistant under the supervision of Dr. Farzad Rahnema (Georgia Tech) and Dr. Luiz Leal (IRSN, formerly ORNL). His graduate work spanned a broad range of topics, and included the development of a graphical user interface for the radiation transport code COMET, generation of multi-group cross-section libraries for a very high temperature hexagonal-prismatic reactor design, implementation of a modern version of the SAMRML code in the AMPX code package, and creation of a new methodology for generating probability tables in the unresolved resonance region. His current work focuses on continued modernization of the AMPX, SAMMY, and ORIGEN code packages.
