Bio
Dr. Md Anisur Rahman is a synthetic polymer chemist in the design, synthesis, characterization, and application of advanced polymeric materials for energy applications. His expertise spans controlled polymerization techniques for synthesizing well-defined polymers, post-polymerization modification, surface modification strategies to tailor polymer properties, and the development of sustainable and recyclable polymers including vitrimers, self-healing, shape memory and smart responsive polymers, and recyclable fiber reinforced polymer composites. His current work explores four key areas: 1) recyclable sustainable crosslinked polymers (adaptive hybrid materials, vitrimers, self-healing polymers) for applications such as reversible tough adhesives, circular plastics, smart responsive materials, and 3D printing; 2) recyclable fiber reinforced vitrimer composites for lightweight high-performance applications; 3) well-defined polymers for energy storage, particularly battery components (electrolytes, separators, binders); and 4) polymer sorbent contactors for CO2 capture and critical materials separation. Dr. Rahman also has prior research experience in developing sustainable polymers and biomaterials from renewable biomass, polymer-grafted nanoparticles (e.g., graphene, carbon nanotubes, and silica), and studying the structure-property relationships of polymer nanocomposites. He has published more than 46 peer-reviewed articles and has an h-index of 21.
