
Bio
Bhartendu Pandey joined ORNL in 2024 as an Alvin M. Weinberg Distinguished Staff Fellow (DSF). He works in the Critical Infrastructure Resilience Group of the Geospatial Science and Human Security Division (GSHSD), National Security Sciences Directorate (NSSD).
Bhartendu is an urban scientist interested in understanding local-to-global urban changes and their human wellbeing and environmental sustainability implications, employing state-of-the-art in remote sensing, geographic information, and complex systems sciences. His fellowship research is examining infrastructure transition pathways addressing environmental challenges facing cities, with a machine learning and artificial intelligence focus to advance decision-making capabilities. He currently serves as a leadership team member of the of the MultiSector Dynamics (MSD) Community of Practice.
Before joining ORNL, Bhartendu was a Lead Urban Data Scientist at Princeton University. Bhartendu received a doctorate from the School of the Environment, Yale University, in 2021.
