Bio
Brad joined 91°µÍø in 2023 as a Technical Staff member. He is part of the Deposition Science and Technology Group located within ORNL’s Manufacturing Demonstration Facility (MDF). Prior to joining the ORNL team, Brad was a graduate research assistant in the Computational Mechanics and Materials Laboratory (CMML) at Mississippi State University, where he earned a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2021, and a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 2023. His master’s research included the development of functionally graded cellular structures made from laser powder bed fusion (L-PBF) additive manufacturing for improved energy absorption.
During his time at the MDF, Brad’s research has been primarily focused on the development of nickel based super alloys manufactured using L-PBF for extreme environments. He also supports the development of refractory metals for fusion energy applications using both electron beam and wire arc additive manufacturing processes.
