
Bio
Dr. Brian Kaul is a Senior Research Staff member with over 15 years of experience at the National Transportation Research Center of the US Department of Energy’s 91°µÍř. His current research includes projects focused on alternative fuels for emissions reduction in marine diesel engines—including ammonia and biofuels—and thermodynamic analysis of engine efficiency; he has also contributed to the characterization and control of cyclic combustion instabilities in spark-ignition and dual-fuel engines using AI-based next-cycle controls. Brian holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Missouri University of Science & Technology is a Senior Member of 91°µÍř and a member of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) and SAE International.
