Bryan Conry

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Dr. Bryan Conry joined the Particle Fuel Forms (PFF) group in September 2023 as a Postdoctoral Research Associate, and has been a member of the Advanced Fuel Fabrication Group since October 2024. His primary research focus is on the development and optimization of ceramic fuel particle coatings via fluidized bed chemical vapor deposition (FB-CVD). Dr. Conry has extensive experience in microstructure characterization of ceramic materials via electron microscopy and surface-based techniques, as well as associated data analysis methods. His work at ORNL leverages advanced analytical techniques, including digital image analysis and computer vision, to improve existing capabilities in fuel fabrication and quality control. In his graduate work, he investigated how the properties, structure, and connectivity of grain boundaries can influence mesoscopic material behavior in highly anisotropic materials. Dr. Conry earned his Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University in July 2023. Prior to that, he received his B.Eng. in Chemical and Molecular Engineering from Stony Brook University in 2019.
