Postdoctoral Research Associate

Dr. Ginu R. George is currently a postdoctoral researcher in the Manufacturing Science Division, Chemical Process Scale-up Group (CPSU), at 91°µÍø (ORNL). Before joining ORNL, Ginu worked as a Research Associate at the Institute of Propulsion Technology, German Aerospace Centre, Germany. He earned his PhD in Chemical and Process Engineering from Clausthal University of Technology, and M.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering from Duesseldorf University of Applied Sciences, both in Germany. Ginu's research primarily focuses on the application of Computational Fluid Dynamics in the chemical processing Industry. In his PhD thesis, Ginu presented a unique particle-resolved Computational Fluid Dynamics (PRCFD) model to investigate the transport processes in slender packed bed reactors made of metallic foam pellets, and it was conducted in collaboration with an industrial partner. As a Master’s student, Ginu spend a year at the Institute of Fluid Dynamics, HZDR, Germany, where he involved in Computed Tomography and multiphase flow simulations in trickle bed reactors. After completing his Bachelor degree in India, Ginu also worked as a project engineer in Rowan Williams Davies and Irwin (RWDI) for a few years, where he conducted wind tunnel experiments and simulations to analyze the wind load on tall structures.

Ginu is interested in implementing the latest modeling and simulation techniques for the development of innovative chemical reactors and their performance optimization. At ORNL, Ginu is working with CPSU group modeling team to support the design of reactors for novel applications and to facilitate the technology transfer at pilot+ scale.
