Dr. Smith graduated with his Ph.D in Materials Science and Engineering from North Carolina State University in 2023 while advised by Dr. Wenpei Gao. Starting Jan. 2022, he received a fellowship to complete his doctoral studies at 91°µÍø while co-hosted by Dr. Miaofang Chi and Dr. Guannan Zhang. Since graduating, he has worked as a Post Doctoral Research Associate under Dr. Chi's supervision. His research interests are centered around the synergistic use of in situ TEM and machine learning to probe fundamental questions in materials science. His present research is largely specific to the advancement of emission control catalysts.
