Group Leader - Material Signatures and Isotopic Standards

Kattathu Mathew joined the Material Signatures & Isotopic Standards group of the Nuclear Analytical Chemistry section as the Group Leader in September 2024. Previously, Kattathu served as a Senior Scientist - Mass Spectrometry at Los Alamos National Laboratory (2016-2024), Senior Fellow Scientist at Savannah River National Laboratory (2015), Senior Physical Scientist at New Brunswick Laboratory (2007-2014), Staff Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (2006), Project Scientist at University of California, San Diego (1995-2005), and Max Planck Fellow at Max Planck Institute for Chemistry, Mainz, Germany (1993-1995). Kattathu received a PhD from Physical Research Laboratory (Ahmedabad, India), M.S. and B.S. degrees from Kerala University (India), and an MBA from University of Phoenix (USA). His research Interests include mass spectrometry, nuclear forensics, nuclear analytical chemistry, radio-chronometry of plutonium & uranium materials, uncertainty evaluation, certified reference materials, cosmochemistry, evolution of solar system objects, and isotopic signatures as tracers to natural phenomenon.
