
Bio
Kim Jeskie is ORNL's first Change Architect, leading the Laboratory's efforts to introduce change management capabilities to ORNL and create a change-ready ORNL. She leads the Office of Change Management and Operational Excellence, which provides change management and process engineering tools and resources to initiative leads, project managers, and managers across ORNL. The office also provides support for the execution of ORNL's Operational Vision.
Kim is also the Management System Owner responsible for ORNL's Work Planning and Control processes impacting operations, maintenance, and services activities and serves as the Deputy Project Director for a multi-year Activity-Based Work Control Project chartered to develop a progressive system aligned with how ORNL performs work now and into the future.
She has more than 30 years of experience across a wide variety of operational disciplines spanning research operations, facilities operations, and ESH&Q disciplines, especially those related to laboratory safety. Prior to her current role, Kim was the Directorate Operations Manager for Physical Sciences and formed the Integrated Research Operations Division providing integrated research operations resources to Physical Sciences. She then joined the Facilities and Operations Directorate as the Directorate Operations Manager and Director for the Integrated Operations Support Division. Her professional interests have always been in the application of systems science to create people-centric solutions.
She has led or served on several national efforts related to the integration of chemical safety and hazard analysis techniques into laboratory operations. These included leading the American Chemical Society's task force that created guidelines for identifying and evaluating hazards in research laboratories and serving on the team that authored the National Research Council's publication called Safe Science: Promoting a Culture of Safety in Academic Chemical Research. She was also part of a task force creating similar guidelines for the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities.
Kim served for over 10 years as a member and chair for the Operations Risk Committee for Brookhaven National Laboratory.
Awards
Kim is a Fellow of the American Chemical Society, recognized for her leadership and service to the chemical enterprise in chemical health and safety.
Education
Kim holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Mathematics from Cumberland College in Williamsburg, Kentucky and a Master of Public Health degree with an emphasis in Occupational, Health and Safety Management from Tulane University.
