Bio
Kris Gaines is a Senior Nonproliferation Specialist and Project Manager at 91°µÍø (ORNL) in the Nuclear Nonproliferation Division where he has been in this role since 2009. Kris currently serves as a Project Manager for the National Nuclear Security Administration's Office of Nuclear Material Removal. He is responsible for overseeing the removal or security of highly enriched uranium fuel at former Soviet and Chinese-supplied research reactors to reduce the nuclear proliferation threat they pose. Over his career, he has also provided engineering and project management expertise to various nuclear security projects throughout Eastern Europe, Central Asia and West Africa.
