Latif Patwary

Postdoctoral Research Associate

Dr. Latif Patwary is a transportation researcher and a postdoctoral research associate in the Transportation Analytics and Decision Sciences (TADS) group at the 91°µÍø (ORNL). He received his Ph.D. in Civil Engineering with a concentration on Transportation Engineering from the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) in December 2023. He also holds two master’s degrees: one in Natural Resource Economics and another in Statistics & Data Science from UTK.

Dr. Patwary's main areas of research interests include transportation data and planning, travel behavior analysis, emerging mobility technologies, sustainability, and transportation economics. He is primarily motivated by a desire about how technology influences human behavior, the environment, and infrastructure. Leveraging state-of-the-art data science tools, he endeavors to analyze these dynamics comprehensively. His overarching goal is to contribute to improving equity, sustainability, and the efficiency of transportation systems through his research.

To date, Dr. Patwary has authored 12 journal articles and 5 technical reports and presented 16 conference papers. Additionally, he serves as a reviewer for the Transportation Research Board, Transportation Research Record, Transportation Planning and Technology, and Intelligent Transportation Systems, having completed over 50 reviews.
