I served in the United States Army from 2003 until 2008, as an airborne infantryman with the 82nd airborne infantry division. During this time, I deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. After exiting the military and earned BS and MS degrees in mechanical engineering from UNC Charlotte. Upon Graduation I accepted a position with the Los Alamos National Laboratory specializing in quality and metrology engineering and management. From late 2019 until mid 2021 I was a metrology engineer working at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. This work often involved developing new inspection methods and procedures, to inspect a continuously changing series of components. from mid 2021 until mid 2023 I was a line manager, leading a team of metrology engineers, engineering technologists, and inspectors. During my time as a line manager the team's size and mission scope increase by a factor of 5. This role involved extensive management of personnel, schedule and budget planning, as well as development of future plans and facilities.
