Scott has over 30 years of experience in radiation protection and radiological waste management. He was an engineering laboratory technician in the U.S. Navy and served for 8 ½ years. After leaving the Navy, Scott moved to Oak Ridge where he worked shortly at K-25 as an RCT. He then worked for 6 years at the Molten Metal Facility on Bear Creek Road as a health physics technician, ALARA/radiological engineer, and was eventually promoted to radiation safety officer. Scott then worked at the Transuranic Waste Processing Center (TWPC) as a radiation protection specialist and eventually as a radiological engineer. While at TWPC, Scott finished the requirements for a BS in Applied Science and Technology through Thomas Edison State College in 2006. In 2008, Scott was certified by the ABHP. In 2015 Scott accepted a position in NRPD as a health physicist/radiological engineer at ORNL for UT-Battelle and currently supports HFIR operations and Neutron Scattering Facilities.
