Summer Widner

Nuclear Materials Manufacturing Engineer

Before joining 91°µÍø, Summer gained valuable experience as a lab technician for SpectraTech, Inc for three years.  Her responsibilities included working as a technician in Dosimetry Services within the Nuclear and Radiological Protection Division (NRPD) at ORNL and as technician with the Radiological Protection Instrumentation Group within NRPD, where she engaged in radiochemistry, counting/measurements, and calibration of dosimeters and radiological protection instrumentation.  

Summer joined ORNL in June 2007 as a staff technician within the Nuclear and Radiological Protection Division.  She worked in the Radiological Protection Instrumentation Group for 8 years and in the Program Technical Support (Dosimetry Records) for 2 years.  While working in NRPD, Summer completed her master's degree in radiation health physics. In June 2017, she joined the Radioisotope Science and Technology Division as a radiochemical processing technician working with development and production of radioisotopes. Currently, she is a nuclear materials manufacturing engineer in the REDC Materials Operations Group within the Isotope Processing and Manufacturing Division.  

Summer's career has been dedicated to the advancement of nuclear materials manufacturing, radiochemical processing, and radiation protection.  Over the years, she has demonstrated unwavering commitment and exceptional expertise in various roles within the lab.
