Bio

Thomas G. Kollie Jr, CAPT (Ret.), U.S. Navy, serves as the Stable Isotope Production Facility, Project Manager as of December 2018. Tom previously served as the Deputy Director, Field Intelligence Element, 91°µÍø for over seven years where he was responsible for directing programs of interest to solve hard problems dealing with national security for the Intelligence Community and the Department of Defense.

As a career Naval Flight Officer, Tom participated in combat operations in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan with increasing degrees of responsibility, including command of an aircraft squadron and major command of a forward deployed air  wing  with  forces and aircraft  located throughout the Middle-East and Africa as Commander Joint Task Force FIFTY SEVEN reporting to Commander, FIFTH Fleet.  Shore duty assignments included serving as a Joint Staff Strategic Planner for General Powell, Washington D.C. Placement Officer and the Deputy Director Resource Management Division for the Chief of Naval Personnel (N10B) with oversight of the Navy’s $34 billion Manpower, Personnel, Training, and Education budget.  Following Air Wing command in October 2009, he reported to the Joint Staff, Operations Directorate for his third and final Pentagon tour on the Joint Staff serving as the Assistant Deputy Director of Global Operations (J-39) with oversight over Cyber Operations, Military Information Support Operations, Counter Intelligence, Air and Space Reconnaissance, and Special Technical Operations for the U.S. military.

Tom holds a BS in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee and holds a MS in Administration from Central Michigan University.  He received his regular Navy commission as a Distinguished Naval Graduate from Aviation Officer  Candidate  School.   Additionally,  he  was  a  Distinguished Graduate  from  the National Defense University earning a MS in National Resource Strategy from the Industrial College of the Armed Forces (now called the Eisenhower School) with a concentration in Information Operations.  Personal military awards include the Defense Superior Service Medal, Legion of Merit (2), Bronze Star, and Air Medal among  various  other campaign,  personal,  and  unit awards.   At  ORNL,  the  Director  of  National Intelligence awarded the National Intelligence Meritorious Unit Citation to Tom’s project team, the first such award ever received at ORNL.
