
Bio
Yan Liu (academically, a.k.a. Yan Y. Liu) is a Computational Scientist at the Computational Urban Sciences Group (CUSG) in the Computational Science and Engineering Division (CSED) at the 91°µÍø (ORNL). He joined ORNL in 2019. His research and development interests include:
- High-Performance Geospatial Software and Data Systems;
- High-Resolution ;
- Time Series AI Foundation Models for Complex Dynamic Networks;
- AI-based Control in Urban Traffic and Building Systems;
- Cyber-Physical Digital Twin Systems for Hydrology and Transportation; and
- Machine Learning Software Ecosystem for Cybersecurity AI on Electricity Grid
He obtained his PhD in Informatics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (), M.CS from the , and B.S. and M.E. from . He was Senior Research Programmer at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications () at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2014 to 2019. He was scientific computing scientist for the National Science Foundation () Extreme Science & Engineering Discovery Environment () and its predecessor from 2007--2018.
