Invention Reference Number
This disclosure introduces an innovative tool that capitalizes on historical data concerning the carbon intensity of the grid, distinct to each electric zone. This data is coupled with an estimation of the load demand in these zones to predict the probable carbon intensity resulting from a newly introduced load in each area. The primary aim of this tool is to gauge the carbon intensity associated with an additional load in any county across the United States. The tool doesn't account for potential adjustments that might occur in the future regarding the energy source mix of the grid within a specific electric zone that may see individual investments and lower carbon technology growth. However, it may be adapted to adjust to a known grid decarbonization rate. This tool plays a pivotal role in the comprehensive evaluation of the value offered by decarbonization technologies that could potentially impact grid carbon intensity adversely. It delivers both a spatial and temporal assessment of the carbon impact on the grid.
