This invention provides a solution to challenges in Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM) when printing complex parts with multiple metals. Traditional approaches lead to uneven layer thickness due to differences in optimal deposition rates for various materials. The solution leverages advanced settings in Wolf Slicer software to ensure even, high-quality layer deposition and structural integrity.

Description

WAAM can involve depositing different metals in specific sections of a part, such as aluminum for the internal section and steel for the outer layers. Uneven layer heights result from the varying deposition rates of these materials, leading to poor-quality prints or part failure. The Wolf Slicer software addresses this by allowing precise customization of printing parameters, such as bead types, feed rates, and layer profiles, tailored for each material.

Benefits

  • Ensures level printing for better structural integrity.
  • Allows customized profiles for different metals, specifying bead spacing, feed rate, print speed, and layer height.
  • Reduces errors caused by uneven deposition of different materials.
  • Increases flexibility in material and toolpath settings, improving print quality.
  • Enhances compatibility with complex part designs and multi-material printing.

Applications & Industries

  • Additive Manufacturing: Enhances quality and reliability in 3D-printed parts.
  • Aerospace: Produces durable and lightweight multi-material components.
  • Automotive: Supports precise fabrication of complex parts.
  • Construction: Enables strong and versatile metal-based structures.
