Vision
To ensure that its computing and computational sciences expertise, resources, and scientific capabilities remain world class, ORNL recruits and retains talent through CCSD’s Educational Outreach Program.
Objectives
- Enhance the scientific community's understanding and appreciation of ORNL's high-performance computing and computational programs.
- Increase educational outreach interactions with universities and other institutions of education and research.
- Identify and recruit top candidates.
- Employ targeted recruitment strategies.
CCSD Educational Program
- STEM outreach is vital to encouraging the next generation of scientists and engineers.
- STEM activities led by CCSD staff for students, mentors, and teachers are coordinated through the program.
- The program supports a wide range of activities for students in kindergarten through grade 12. Activities include judging at science fairs, participating in science expos for grades K-5, collaborating with ORAU’s Science Village, presenting for Saturday Science, and attending high school career fairs.
- Middle and high school science teachers can attend teacher’s workshops that include classroom presentations, hands-on experiments that they can take back to the classrooms, and tours of ORNL research facilities.
