Bio
Dr. Jiaqiang Yan is currently a staff scientist in the Correlated Electron Materials Group. He earned his PhD in Materials Science and Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin in 2004. He then worked as a postdoctoral associate and assistant scientist at Ames Laboratory, and later as research faculty at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville before joining the staff of ORNL in 2016. His research focuses on the design, growth, and characterization of novel materials with unusual electrical, magnetic, thermal properties. His work involves rational synthesis of novel materials, mainly in single crystal form, and investigation of the structure-function relationships. The goal is to understand how to design new materials with desired functionalities. Recent projects include: (1) quantum spin liquids, (2) cleavable topological magnets, and (3) High entropy oxides.
