An anomaly seen in previous surface sampling probes was a notable occasional inconsistency of timing between spot sampling and signal detection.

This idea expands our current surface sampling probe portfolio, providing additional capabilities not before possible for spot sampling and chemical imaging. We have developed a platform for surface spot sampling using laser assisted sample transfer to solution.

Here, we describe the production and use of uniform silicon nanopost arrays made by nanolithography. These nanopost arrays (NAPA) provide improved ion yields with switching or modulation capabilities for detecting sample adsorbates by mass spectrometry.
