Polyisocyanurate (PIR) foams are commonly used thermal insulation in buildings due to their low thermal conductivity. However, PIR foams in the current market have thermal resistivity (R/in.-value) 5.5 to 6.5 5 h·ft2·°F/Btu/in. that can be further improved to reduce energy losses from building envelopes. This invention contains the development of PIR foams with >R8/in value via optimized formulation and fabrication method.
